Rumored New Figures!
Hey all.
Over on Warseer, there are rumors of some new figures!
I have no information on the credibility of the folks who brought 'em up, but in any event they sound cool.
A rundown of the rumored new stuff:
Plastic Swan Knights of Dol Amroth
Plastic Morgul Knights
Mauhur Metal Command Blister

Anything in plastic is a good idea, they are just as detailed, easy to convert and cheaper than the metal minis.

And seeing how these models are said to be rescaled/redesigned, they'll even look better!

Yeah, agreed on both counts. I think both cavalry units are in sore need of a remake (even though the Morgul Knights aren't very old) to bring them in line with the LotR range. SKoDA are just a tad to flashy for me, while the Morgul Knights are both a little oversized and very slim in terms of variety. I'm definitely looking forward to these two.
I'm hoping Mauhur will turn out to be something of a foil to Grimbold, a normal captain but with an upgrade option for the rank'n'file troops in his army.

Great find, thanks for sharing!
Curious as to how the cavalry will turn out. Plastic kits with multiple options and bits should be exciting.

nice! thanks for the pics! i think they both look really cool. the knights of dol amroth are AWESOME!!! and their helmets are just amazing, much better than the metal ones.
the morgul knights are pretty sweet to, i really like the banner for both the KoDA and the MK. i also really like the KoDA hornblower too.

The figures look great! The Swan Knights look so much better than the metal ones - no giant helmets! Thanks for the link, midge.

I really like the toned down version of the swan knights, but I was kinda hoping for something altogether new with the Morgul Knights. I wasn't that big on the original models, and these look very similar only scaled down a tad. Still, they look nice and hopefully they'll be affordable (although GW has been price gouging with their other ranges lately, so in a sense I'll be surprised if these guys do cost the same as current cavalry sets).

I'm psyched for most of this stuff, too, but why another Faramir? It would be nice to get a blister of Blackroot Vale archers instead. At present, the closest thing I can think of that Duinhir and the Blackroot Command could attach to would be the plastic rangers, unless they expect you to pick up a box of Gondorians and dedicate all of your bowmen to that role. Even so, it's nice that fiefdoms are being expanded beyond simply a little extra attention to the SKoDA.

Hmm, quite interesting. I like how they re-did the Swan Knights; the old ones looked ridiculous, almost to the extent of being humorous. Morgul knights look nice as well. And I'm really not sure why they feel they need another Faramir. Don't they have 3 or 4 already?

Faramir would be a post-WotR version, that is as Prince of Ithilien. In other words, probably the leaked picture:
Also some descripsions, from BramGaunt on WarSeer:
Quote:
Well, I browsed the new book a little, and there are a fwe things I spotted (I am not really into the LorT miniatures, so I might have missed some things)
New Morgul Knights and Knights of Dol Amroth: Most of you probably saw these already.
New Faramir: In a blue Coat and braided Horse, trimmed with gold
Uruk-Hai: New Uruk Hai Command: There was a new Standard bearer, Captain and a Drummer for Urik-Hai, as well as a new named Charakter, whose name I don't remember.
The Dwimmerlaik (Eowyn calls the Witch King a "Dwimmerlaik"): He looks a lot like a normal Wraith, holding his sword above his head. His coat is grey-ish.
Morannon Orks Drummer and new command: If I looked correctly they get a full new command as well.
Osgiliath Terrain: Well, most of you saw the movie, and that's excactly what you may expect: Ruins, fine in detail, with stairs, broken pillars, statues of old kings and lots more I probably missed out.: It looks really wonderful. I'm goint to use it for Warhammer 40k though, but it will work perfectly fine with both War of the Ring and the "normal" Lord of the Rings System
I didn't pay that much attention to the good guys, though...

EDIT: even better.. pictures! http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/ca...tId=cat1570000

Hi guys.. I know I haven't been around recently, but that's the disadvantage of being 17 in the UK - exams again!
I have to say, the prospect of new releases had hardly filled me with enthusiasm, having the seen the last lot, but....
These new models are great: Never thought I'd be saying that again!
I am actually serious - the sculpting on the whole looks good: the SKoDA look fantastic - and that's serious praise from someone who has an instinctive hatred of Gondorian models of any form; thanks to the psychological impact of having armies cut to pieces by Gondorian artillery; thanks for that, SD..!
But being serious again, those are really beatiful sculpts, to my mind at least: SKoDA are improved, the Morgul Knights have quite a frightening appearance, and the new Faramir model is an absolute must-have! I am enamoured of that model to a great extent - the idea is nice, the sculpt, on the whole is good, with quite a dynamic pose, although I'm not sure about the face - hopefully it's just the way it's been painted? Another couple of nice models are the Blackroot Vale archers, which look like they fit with the Faramir model, the way they've been painted: actually, though, I wish they'd make Faramir's White Guard - then there'd be another Gondor player - me! On the other hand, though, did we really need more Uruk Hai? I'm sorry if I've offended a load of Isengard players with that, but the Mauhur things look just like another typical GW offering - the LotR/Warhammer look springing to the fore again... Puts me in mind of the Shamans...
Still, on the whole, a fantastic collection of models there, to my mind! I will certainly buy Faramir (and add him to the piles of models I already have - unpainted, of course!), and I would be definitely be tempted by the SKoDA if I played Good.
FoI

WOW! These are great mini's! I really like all of them except for that Mauhur guy. The knights of Dol Amroth and the morgal knights have to be my favorites of this release. I am SO glad that GW has finally started making multi-part kits for LotR. Now it is time to start saving my penys so I can actually buy them.
