I can't believe they're releasing Galadhrim cavalry instead of High Elf cavalry. Horsed troops are not practical in a woodland realm and Tolkien never implied such existed in any of his writings. High Elven cavalry I can understand, but not this. Archers look great, though!

I'm pretty sure we'll see the release of more High Elves too, very soon.

Well, apparently GW have classed Galadhrim as "Elf warriors with armour", and High Elves as "Elf warriors with heavy armour". So they actually are the same profile...which means High Elf cavalry probably will eventually be released, as they share the same wargear options. Wood Elves have their own separate profile, and it doesn't look like they will have a horse option (any time soon).
BTW...nice find. They look great. One thing that I noticed though; there aren't many arrows in the quivers from what we can see...

wow, those look nice. I am not a fan of elves so I probably wont buy any but with those models it is tempting. I also noticed as soon as i saw tham that it looks like they only have a couple arrows.

Have to say that these new models look quite impressive, to my mind.. As other have said, a disappointing number of arrows; obviously, they're meant to have been busy! I should imagine that the archers will be plastic, and that the cavalry will be metal, given GW's form on Easterlings..

Don't be so sure on the cavalry being metal. Recently, GW has been making more plastic stuff, because the metal prices have gone up with some 300%.
Besides, if you compare the two pics above, the rider seems to have exactly the same amount of detail as the infantry. Especially the hair in the horses neck has that plastic look too.
On the arrows: just assume they're in orcish eyesockets etc.. like they should!

I'm sorry, but that doesn't make much sense. I always thought when they said wood elves that meant the third age elves, the ones that appeared magically at Helm's Deep. And when they said high elves, they meant the second age ones that were in the Last Alliance.
Nice looking miniatures though. Will there be any wood elves with swords in the future? As T. said though, the rider doesn't really fit

I'm not justifying that the rider fits; I'm trying to explain why I think GW made this model. These "Haldir's Elves" are actually Elf Warriors with armour, not Wood Elves, according to GW. In other words, to GW these Galadrim are exactly the same as Last Alliance Elves, except in lighter armour.

My pleasure - I came upon them by accident, actually.
I think they're all great models in their detail. I love the archers on foot, and it may finally persuade me to invest in an Elf army. However I also don't agree with the cavalry model as LotR-themed; for Galadhrim, the notion is pretty ridiculous, unless you consider him akin to an Elven scout like Elrohir and Elladan. Having said that, it's not as ridiculous as the Isengard Troll, so I won't moan too much (and I'm tired and ready for bed, incidentally!).

More Galadhrim Pics.
I found some pics of the Galadhrim Archers as well as the Elven Stormcaller.

I like the archers and the cavalry. They look pretty good.
I like the stormcaller mini as well, I just don't like the name.

Stormcaller? What a name...the archers look good in a group though.
And I'm not saying the cavalry looks bad or anything, they look good. But I'm not quite sure they fit to be honest. I only hope they make more high elves (especially ones on horseback) so I won't have to change my 2nd age elven army too much.
