Last march of the Ents!
The rumors were indeed true. Plastic ents are about to hit the shelves!
Thoughts, comments? Discuss it here!
Thanks to Midge and Silvani for the contribution.

I definitely don't like paint job here. I almost looks like the thing was cast in brown plastic and just a little green applied here and there. I'd like it a lot better if it had white or silvery bark. This is definitely a model that can be much improved with a little imagination, greenstuff, and paint. I'm looking forward to it. More Ents is a good thing.

I think you are right about the colors. White or silver would look much much better. Not being a big fan of ents in general i can't say that i am impressed by this model. i glanced at the side picture by that one in the magazine and it looks like there is going to be a second type of ent as well. Poses look very static though.

It's pretty obviously put together from several different parts. Probably if they had put more effort into making it look smoother and giving it a better paint job, it would look better. Also, is it just me or does the bark seem awfully smooth compared to the bark of the other ents?

Well, Ents, like trees themselves, display a lot of diversity when it comes to bark. Some trees are very smooth, after all. That's depicted in the movies as well.

It could definitely use some putty work. As for the bark, it kind of looks like my crepe myrtle tree (do they have crepe myrtles in Fangorn?).
Personally, I like ukfreddybear's ents better than this one.

The detail is good for plastic. It's not perfect as everyone points out, but this ent certainly looks much better than the TTT metal ent, which was short, thin, and looked like a Warhammer Treeman.

To be honest I actually like this model quite a bit better than the last attempt they made at ents (I think Treebeard is the best though). It's much more upright and the legs look more like tree trunks than big sticks. While it is pretty static as silvani pointed out, I don't envision ents as particularly spry and dynamic creatures anyways.
My biggest issue with the model is the face - the Ents in the movies had somewhat more humanoid faces than this one, but no biggie. The paint job isn't all that impressive either, I'd agree with the general consensus that a different choice of colors would have made a big difference.

I am gonna hit up a GW bunker some time this month to see whether they already have a model there or not as a sample. Just to view it and such. If so i might be able to get new pics and possibly with alternate colors.

plastic ents seems to me like an awesome concept. true the detail could be better, true it could have a more epic pose, and true it could have a much better paint job, but look at the bigger picture here, PLASTIC ENTS! plastic ents means more customization and configurations. also it means a probable price decrease in ents, opening the possibility more then ever of ent armies! and i would love to have an ent army!

Yuk, matel, hasbro, lego and tonka are words that spring to mind when I look at that..thing.
It's not the plastic..after all look at what is achived in the military model world..plastic is a great medium for models..if the mold is any good to start with.
Paint wont fix this, green stuff would help, but why should I ? I pay outrageous prices so GW can pay sculptors to do....well better than this.
Another offering from GW that wont see my collection.
I was really hoping for something more like Treebeard, I'm thinking of using tree dudes and Huons for my Ents..this ent isn't entish enough!!

That's true, but still, all of these ents have smooth bark, while none of the metal ones we get now have smooth bark. Seems strange to put out plastic ones that only have smooth bark.
And they just don't look good overall too.

hmmmm ps2 and xbox ents
hey guys when i see these models can you what i think?
they look outrageously like the one(s) from the return of the video game
i mean the graphics in that game were apauling, textures were smooth flat and fuzzy, a little bit like these ents
i would even go as far to say the faces from those ents and their sheer size are remarkably like their cgi relatives...
ponders as to the credibility of gw???
