More Galhadrim... Heroes!

A new Elven hero, Rumil, will soon be visiting his wrath upon the hordes of the Enemy.

Haldir gets an update as well. Talk about it here.

That Haldir model looks awsome! I love it - really dynamic pose, its a shame the new elves (and everything else I guess) is going to be so expensive with the impending price increase!!!!

Southdunedain 05-14-2009 08:05 AM

I have to say, I like these a lot - WotR really seems to have brought some good stuff out of GW. Dynamic poses, well-sculpted - and unlike the Galadhrim Guard, they don't seem to be copied from another model. Yes, not bad...just wish I had enough money to consider investing in a Galadhrim army.

I like Rumil's pose. It looks almost as if he is ready to assassinate someone. Very fit for an elven captain.

As has been said already, Rumil's pose is really quite good, and Haldir's is fantastic..! Really dynamic..

This is now looking good in the Galhadrim direction; let's hope they do as well with the new Easterlings which will be coming according to LomE!

Haldir's face looks like he 60 years old, though. Yuck. Like to see this model from a better angle.

Not bad for an elf thats probebly 180 years old then!

Hirumith 05-14-2009 10:26 PM

All these new elves are looking really cool! I like both figures a lot. Not that we necessarily needed a new Haldir, but he's a cool model so I'm definitely not complaining. The name Rumil sounds really familiar, but I can't think of who he is. Either way I love the figure, and as I've always said I really think the modern/wood elves need some more heavily armored characters and it looks like we'll get it with these two and the Galhadrim Guard.

Unfortunately this won't help either DM or SouthDunedain in particular, but if anyone in the States finds money to be a mitigating resource you can order from The War Store (www.thewarstore.com), and they sell all GW products at a 20% discount. Only stuff that's available through retail though, and you'll have to check to make sure they've got everything in stock.

The face does look pretty old, I kind of get the impression that that's a result of harsh highlighting on the face though, especially around the mouth.

Off topic, but,

Apparently Matt Ward has said that he much prefers WotR to LoME...the way I'm reading it he is replacing LoME with WotR. As many people have pointed out before, releases have not been what was predicted in LoME (named Nazgul were not in LoME), as well as models predicted in LoME being cancelled (Black Numenorian Catapult). So there's a chance that Easterlings won't get much new releases other than the odd hero or elite blister.

Very dramatic poses, and well done. Rumil's pose is a bit stilted or strange, but not terribly so. Just curious, but does anybody know if Rumil was actually in the books, or is he another fictional character invented by GW?

Taliesin 05-17-2009 08:49 AM

In The Silmarillion, "Rúmil of Tirion was the name of the loremaster who first achieved fitting signs for the recording of speech and song, some for graving upon metal or in stone, others for drawing with brush or with pen."

Don't think this is the same guy, of course. It is curious that GW left the accent off the "u" in his name; they are usually very good about such things.

Rumil is one of Haldir's brother that met The Fellowship in Lothlorien.

midge 05-19-2009 08:44 AM

He was one of the three wardens met by the Fellowship also there was another brother called Orophin.

STupendous 05-19-2009 12:03 PM

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification. It's been too long since I read the Fellowship. So basically he would be more along the lines of a wood elf than a high elf, and he would have lived during the 3rd age rather than the 2nd?

That's right, thanks for jogging my memory. I wonder if they'll be making Orophin as well.
