View Full Version : JOIN GONDOR!!!!!
Lord Of Fangorn

This thread is a debate on why everyone should join Gondor. Here are some reasons to help you decide:
1. We are the mightiest nation of them all!
2. We have a vast array of amazing heroes such as Aragorn and Boromir!
3. We have some of the best troops in Middle Earth such as the Citadel Guard and the Swan Knights of Dol Amroth!
And finally, I'm willing to give anyone that ditches Mordor, Harad or Moria some reknown! Just post when you have on this post and I will give you some reknown.

if you are so grand why are you resorting to bribery to pad your ranks??
Nothing beats the ROTN

Nothing beats the ROTN
Just like to point this out:
When The Last Alliance won and the kingdom of men split into two parts, one died down and one grew and continued. Guess which one the ROTN belong. Oh and guess which one Gondor did?
Are you talking about when the King of Numenor sailed against the Valar? Then they split, The faithful, led by Elendil, went to Middle Earth, and founded the kingdoms of Arnor(North) and Gondor(South). The Witch King of Angmar(the Lord of the Nazgul) destroyed the Northern Kingdom, thats the only reason they died. Oh, and Elendil founded Arnor, and their line stayed true, and has not dimished as much as Gondor's has. So, a RotN is way better than a Soldier of Gondor(or ranger, or whatever you compare him to.)
In conclusion-- Rogue got you! :D

Oh, I know this one! The section that grew formed a haven and called it Umbar. Which was later sacked by the Men of Harad, killing as they go. 8)
Join Harad.

Let's just clear this up now!
I have edited the post and I would just like to say that, 3rd Age Gondor was 100 times that of RotN. Join Gondor!
Now stop and think about this, we are all for the same course. Destroy Sauron's realm! I will now admit that Ecthelion made a good point. Ec, this better not come back to haunt me!
Join Gondor!
When The Last Alliance won and the kingdom of men split into two parts, one died down and one grew and continued. Guess which one the ROTN belong. Oh and guess which one Gondor did?
Then Your saying Gondor and RotN are the same :?:
You are confusing me, which split are you talking about?
The Kin-Strife(Gondor vs Umbar, like LB said)
or Arnor and Gondor(which was never a split, just two separate kingdoms, led by the same family)
Clear it up even more, provide details
And GO RIVENDELL! :D

why is it that everyone is going on and on about harad and gondor... and not the one country that saved gondors buts at pellinor feilds!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rohan rocks. even though my name is captain_of_morgul.............

As a note it was in fact gondor that saved the day at pelenor fields. Aragorn rounded up an army of men from south Gondor to win the battle - in the books it states that rohan would have lost without them. However I do not want any rivalry between any of the good races - we are on the same side after all.
To all people who dont have an alleigance pick gondor, or failing that, at least join the forces of good!
Ranfolk
01-22-2005, 11:59 AM
You are of course right gondorian_knight. Rohan and Gondor could not have won the fight without Aragorn and his reinforcements. However, had Rohan not shown up, it would have been too late for Aragorn to do anything. So, it doesn't matter, all forces were needed at the Battle of Pelenor fields. I would like to point out though that Rohan made the most impact with their thousands of riders charging into the forces of Mordor (  ) Go free peoples of Middle Earth.

Hi BZakker,
I recently answered someone else concerning this exact same thing so am copying that response here. :)
The allegiances are simply your Middle-Earth affiliation. They will dictate who your leader on the site will be (we're in the process of getting those all filled right now), what actual ranks you will be given (the ranks are different for the different affiliations!) and what type of troops you will be able to use in the upcoming campaign(s).
It's definitely good advice to choose the one you like the best, you can always switch later if you decide to go a new route.
Hope that helps. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

And I have one more question, say someone does challenge me and I
live nowhere near them, what happens then. Like I said before sorry I'm new.

:)
No, you don't have to book battles. Our allegiances on Palantir are intended to be more far reaching than that of some other sites. They will eventually play into your entire experience here, including your rise through the ranks.
Our campaign is not yet set up so there is no need to worry about being challenged and battling just yet. More information will be available soon though, as the war is indeed coming...
Don't worry about being new or asking questions, we enjoy helping out. ;)

Mordor's cool. They have the big guy, The black king of the Nazgul, and, technically used to have the Balrogs. And sorta Shelob, and a bunch o Uruks and a ton of Orcs, and Harad Allies, and the one ring, and them spiders o' mirkwood, and ugly trolls, and even eviler Olog Hai, Ringwraiths, Mumak thingies, goblins, and Grond, and a thing called Gothmog, and a Balrog captain called Gothmog, and they technically own Isengard, and they have an annoying, and a foul-mouthed man called the mouth of Sauron....

Also ROTN is closed from the public so nobody can join it. I might join gondor but I have spme Mordor guys so I'm not sure but I'll probably do mordor cause of my avatar but I might not.

Don't you know what that would mean though? All of middle earth would be thrown into a cataclysmic food shortage cycle! No potatoes, carrots, or *gulp* WEED!!!! What a horrible thought
Don't believe me?
See, where y is equal to crops and w is equal to weed and h is equal to amount of men unable to fight because they're stoned.
y = .....never mind, we'll just skip that
w = lots and lots
h = 1.2 x 10 to the 8th
Incredibly advanced and difficult algebra. :P
Weed shortage would be awful for moria....think of all those poor deprived little goblins.

I'm not sure what you're referring to about giving those away (for what reason, I mean) but we actually have even better things now.
First, there is renown - which is a general indicator of how the site's membership percieves you.
Second, our new Rank system is a method we're utilizing to show how much work and effort a member has put into helping their Allegiance.
Both of those are able to be added to by the allegiance leader and renown is boostable by any member.
There just might be more coming too! So, don't fret over the old cookies and whatnot. ;)

Sorry better clear this up!
For the old star-shaped cookie rank system has been replaced with the reknown system so I have changed the original post.
Now if you join Gondor (either from another allegiance or as your first allegiance) you will recieve some reknown from me or possibly from another member of the allegiance.
I would now like to openly say that this is completely and utterly bribery. We are open about it but, oh, how it works!
Join Gondor today!

Right, of course, i agree, you can defeat ALL oncomers. Thats why osgiliath was taken, and your mighty armies trying to take our land were defeated. Hmm, yes, ALL opponents. Boast as much as you like, it won't make you live a moment longer. Your tree burns, whether or not you see it, and its so called "power" that it once held is all but gone. Will you look to your allies? Bah, let me say it again, mere stableboys. You tin men will not last long, no, i think not. Your view of power is... how should i say it, dreadfully amusing. Boromir will not save you, nor will that madman you call your leader. Much will have to be overcome to defeat the lord Sauron, and we bar your way. Do not presume to try to talk of defeating us, you've yet to fight the full power of the Serpent Kingdoms...

Now that has been said, Gondor's might is failing, and minas tirith will fall (this time). Your doom is near, and you my fine friend will not live to see your so called "king" gain his kindom. Nor will he for that matter

Just to clear up:
Gondor has defeated Harad and the Corsairs numerous times to keep you in your places.
Rohan (with the aide of Gondor) defeated the forces of Khand and all the lands to the far east.
Gondor managed to hold Osgiliath against countless numbers for years before the forces of evil finally took it.
Gondor has kept the borders of the southern fiefdoms free from raiders for a long time and has even extended their borders into harad.
And just gotta say...
...at least we don't need to use elephants and other large animals to fight because our soldiers aren't any good!
Gondor and the realms of men will remain longer than any of your pitifull nations!

That was only after taking down at least 20 uruks. And he was alone.
And you may have poison arrows, but you'll have to get past Boromir's D of 7 first.

Well speaking in gaming terms, the real question is, will Boromirs fate be any different than the other heros my mumak has run over in the past. Should I list the ones that underestimated its S 9? Dain, Gil Galad, Elrond, Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, and Gandalf. Of course, you could argue that its the player not the model, and rightly so, but the same with Boromir:hmph:
PS: good point bout the uruks though

Anyway what if I attacked your mighty mumak?
It only has a fight value of 4. And with Boromir's large amount of might its almost an instant win for Boromir.
Skywalker312
07-27-2006, 12:50 PM
HA! as if we'd let you attack our mumak. Even if you did manage it, Boromir could only produce 3 wounds. Instant wound, mabey, instant win, Deffinatly not. You roll ones and you're doomed.
BoromirCaptainOfGondor

very true, but the mahud cheiften has a courage of 5 if you didn't notice, and i would be fairly difficult to make the mumak stampede with his will and might.
Also, lets say i got priority, then you get squished. Strength of nine has that affect on many heros!

Lord Of Fangorn
07-28-2006, 12:38 PM
Well we all now know exactly how a battle between Sky and BCoG would go!
I would like to point out that no one would just charge a mumak with boromir. i would add king elessar and a few citadel guard (oh and of course a firey storm from the trebuchets). Oh dear bye bye mumak!

Hey guys, at the moment I feel the Mumak issue is being a bit overdone. It's a great miniature, very powerful in the game (I know this from experience, i killed 19 Riders of Rohan in one turn with one once, although this only happened because we were playing a BIG Siege of Gondor/Battle of the Pellenor Fields game, over 850 models if I recall correctly) and with the right support can be nigh unbeatable.
However, Gondor has some brilliant troops available, and really the simple way to kill a mumak is just hit it with a Battlecry Trebuchet. Charging it with cavalry can also help (cavalry because of the longer charge distance).
All-in-all it comes down to the general and the favour of the dice gods :tounge:
I think that perhaps it is time we moved on from the Mumakil debate as it seems to just be going around in circles, so let's try and talk about something else. I'll start by explaining why it is I like Gondor. Firstly the wide array of reasonable to powerful heroes is great, there's a large variety of troops available, and on more of an opinionated note, the theme and look of the Gondorian troops is great!
I'm sure there are more reasons I started collecting Gondor, but those are the main ones. Do you feel the same way about the Gondor miniature range? If so then join Gondor today!
Cheers,

Well said LAE!
Gondor is arguably the most organised part of Middle Earth. We have troops that are heavily armoured with many elite upgrades. Best of all, some of the top heroes in the whole gaming system (such as King Elessar and Boromir Captain of the White Tower) fight for the glory of Gondor! With an army that stands head and shoulders above all those disorganised bands of raiders and hybrids, you really can't go wrong.
However enough about the army, now about the allegiance.
As this thread suggests, Gondor is an active allegiance with a few highly active members. We have lots going on at the moment as we improve the allegiance yet further. We are completely open to suggestions and many of us have had ideas which are at the moment are becoming realities. Join us to get in on the action.
(...and remember the bribery still stands!)

May I also add that besides great heroes like Boromir and Aragorn, we also have Prince Imrahil and also the white Rider Gandalf!

I wash agreeing with you. Prior to the Gondorians coming to their senses, they would focus on nothing but the Mumak and ignore all the other SK units on the table....
Skywalker312
08-01-2006, 10:15 AM
The Mumak discussion is quite over, and thankfully so. As LAE said, it was going in circles. However, I might like to add that while Gondor is a great place to join, and if you are into Minas Tirith and other shiney(meaning armoured troops) things thats where you belong. True, they have good hero's such as Aragorn and Gandalf, and even Imrahil. If you play all those things in our game, Gondor is the place to be!
But if you like Large quantities of troops, easterlings that are just as good as Minas Tirith warriors, chariots (count as monsterous mounts, meaning that can knock over cavalry), and 8 troop types, join Serpent Kingdoms. As my friend Heavywood just said, you can't ignore the other troop types, for we now have many, as well as more to come (corsairs!)
Either way you are joining great allegiances on www.thepalantir.org (http://www.thepalantir.org) :palantir!:
best,
Sky
PS: if you want us to stop taking over your thread, just lable it [recruitment] as setforth in the new wartable rules at the top of the forum.
