Just wondering, I think this would be a great idea for an alliegiance aswell as a rhun allegiance.

Thanks :)

i don't think so, since there wasn't truly an angmar during the War of the Ring. Rhun is a possibility though, but i dont think it will happen until GW releases the supplement completly.

Well, angmar was like the northern evil in war of the ring..they were present in the war but they did not take part it much, unless people stepped into their territory...

there were no major battles, to my knowlage, so very little could be done with an allegiance.

EDIT: spelling error fixed

Still, it would be interesting having an Angmar allegiance.

I don't think so. Angmar never worked well in another online campaign that shall not be named, so I don't think it would work well here.

There's just not enough excitement to lure gamers to that allegiance, and an inactive allegiance is just dead wood.

Actually, in the campaign that shall not be named, the angmar allegiance is a huge hit and has many active members...

if you're trying to be funny thats fine, but if not, please check your tone. its not right to make fun of people for their opinions.

thanks,

Wouldn't all of the Angmar units be the same as the Mordor units?

So Angmar would be effectivley a northern province of Mordor? At least that was my thinking...

Heh Baldor, in the last campaign that shall not be named, they played a few battles and their CinC didn't even bother. Huge.

The bottom line is this...

Many of us love Angmar and would truly enjoy gaming with models from that allegiance (if not for the unique units, simply for the "neat" factor of it being Angmar). However, Angmar did not exist in the War of the Ring timeframe, which means it is nearly impossible to play a campaign with an entire allegiance devoted to it.

I've heard TLA does something like a "Forces of the Wild North" or somesuch just to allow an Angmar type allegiance. I have not spoken to any of the campaign leaders over there but it seems to me that such a thing is wildly un-themed. There simply was no time during the late third age where organized evil armies (such as are necessary to carry out maneuvers in a campaign) became a threat to the armies of Good. Of course, I could be wrong about that and definitely invite any information that you fine folks may have about it.

Hope that helps a bit,

Krahl

I think I've got some info that may help tucked into my favorites...

http://gofree.indigo.ie/~warrenl/Tolkien/Angmar/Angmar.html

A quote at the bottom of that page reads,

The remaining folk of Angmar must have been forced north into Forodwaith, their ancestral homeland. No report has reached us of their fate.

That implies the notion that there is a good chance that there is indeed evil men of angmar still living in lands close to current day angmar.

Here is another page of information that states there is an army of angmarish troops in the north, most likely near the Misty Mountains.

In the year 2941, the Dark Lord was forced to abandon the home He had made in Dol Guldur by the foul machinations of the White Council. Before leaving, He ordered the Army of Angmar to head west to the Misty Mountains in order to protect the misty passes from incursion and harry the followers of the Valar. The journey undertaken by the Army was a difficult one and many soldiers were lost both to the treacherous mountain passes and skirmishes with the cowardly elves of Lorien. By far the greatest loss was Belturma, who at the age of 512 died a natural death and was buried on the slopes of the Misty Mountains. So it was that the Angmarim arrived at their current location, once more proudly raising the banners of the Dark Lord in the North.

In the year 2941,

Heh, you do realise the War of the Ring didn't start until 77 years later?

No report has reached us of their fate.

No report reached us of the Blue Wizards but we don't assume they're battling the Easterlings.

There is certainly no record of evil forces from Arnor attempting to conquer Middle Earth, or even pillage towns or cities.
