Introduction

Eowyn 1

Hello there! In this guide, I will show you how to paint the lovely Lady Eowyn. I hope you find it of some use.

Preparation

Firstly, wash Eowyn in a bowl of warm water, to remove any dust. When dry, glue into your base. Making sure that your Eowyn is fully dry, spray or paint her Chaos Black. Make sure you have a solid basecoat before you commence painting.

Painting Eowyn

Step One - The Dress

Eowyn 2

The Dress was base coated with a 3:1 mix of Shadow Grey and Chaos Black. Once this had dried, I applied four highlights simply by adding Bleached Bone to the mixture. Make sure you water the paint down for a smoother, more even highlight.

Step Two - The Belt

Eowyn 3

The Belt was base coated with a 3:1 mix of Snakebite Leather and Chaos Black. I then applied two highlights by adding an equal mixture of Snakebite Leather and Bleached Bone to the current mix.

Step Three - The Face

Eowyn 4

The Face was base coated with Bestial Brown. Then, I got Dwarf Flesh and applied it to one side of my palette. Now I got some Skull White and added it at the opposite side. After these two colours had been applied, I mixed them together with a bit of water. This left me with a smooth transition from one colour to the next. (This isn’t completely wet blending, but it's close). Now, I applied as many highlights as possible, by graduating towards the lighter flesh tone.

All that remained to finish her face off were her eyes. Using Skull White I painted her eye balls and dotted the pupil with Chaos Black.

Step Four - The Hair

Eowyn 5

The hair was base coated with a 1:1 mix of Scorched Brown and Snakebite Leather. It was then highlighted with Snakebite Leather. Three additional highlights were added, but with increasing amounts of Bleached Bone added to the Snakebite Leather.

Step Five - The Sword

Eowyn 6

The blade was base coated with Boltgun Metal, then washed with watered down Black Ink. It was then highlighted with Mithril Silver. For the hilt, a basecoat of Shining Gold was used. This was then washed with watered down Chestnut Ink and highlighted with Shining Gold.

Conclusion

Eowyn 1

Lady Eowyn was a joy to paint. I hope that you will enjoy painting her as much as I did and that this guide will help you achieve your desired result.

Until next time....
