Plastic sprues
Rocks

White glue
Gather the supplies and lay them out.
Step Two
Trace the base of a Fell Beast onto some cardboard (I believe this is about 65mm), cut this out. Draw a 7-inch line onto a piece of paper or cardboard for roughly estimating the size of the Ent. Cut an empty sprue into several long pieces and lay these out on the line like a stick figure.
Step Three
Start building the Ent from the base up. Using a hot glue gun, attach the feet (or a foot) to the base and then attach the legs to the feet. Next attach the main body piece.
Prepare the hands and feet by piecing together several small sprue clippings. Also do not use too much glue at one time because it will melt the plastic.
Step Four
Now glue on the arms and hands. You’ll have to let each limb dry briefly before moving on. Try to put the Ent together in a dynamic, animated pose.
Step Five
The basic body of the Ent is now done. Add thickness to the body and limbs by gluing additional pieces of sprue to them. This will also add support and strength to the figure.
Step Six
Once this has dried, use some green stuff to sculpt a face. I started with the eyes and eyebrows then went onto the nose. Lastly, I added the mouth and beard then went over the whole face again with a sculpting tool to add better detail. Now use the glue gun to carefully thicken the body again. This will give the Ent an improved tree-like look.
Step Seven
Allow the green stuff and glue to fully dry. Basecoat the Ent with black spray paint. Once the basecoat is dry, highlight the Ent with Scorched Brown. Then highlight by mixing Bubonic Brown and Scorched Brown. The next highlight will add Rotting Flesh to the mix. The final highlight will consist of Bleached Bone and Rotting Flesh. Use a mix of Sunburst Yellow and Bleached Bone for the eyes. Then add the pupil of the eye with Chaos Black. Use Shadow Grey for any rocks you decide to attach to the base. Highlight this with Elf Grey (or a lighter shade). Now glue decorative moss to key random areas with white glue. You can finish the base like any other base.
Conclusion I plan to use this basic method to develop more complex Ents such as a willow or pine. Hope you found this article useful. Enjoy :) Joshua (KalenSnowmantle)
