PVA Glue Introduction I have really enjoyed painting this miniature, more than any I have done before. I am sure you will enjoy painting it as well.
It is just one of those pleasing miniatures, I really recommend you give it a go! I had noticed that there were no easily
accessible painting guides for this miniature. Being such a beautiful sculpt and having one unpainted and unloved at the
back of my shelf, started me thinking about making a painting guide. Here is the result of those thoughts. Step 1 - Preparation Wash the miniature in warm water, to which washing up liquid has been added. This will remove any residual lubricant left on the model.
Then, glue it to the base using super glue. Add Sand to the base using PVA glue. Prime with Chaos Black. As you can see, I have given my Imrahil a scenic base. To do this, just use pieces of small slate, glued together with
super glue, to represent a realistic looking rock formation. As this is rather simple I will leave you to think of your own version. Step 2 - The Face Paint the whole face, leaving the eyes black, using Dwarf Flesh. Thin down you paints a little for this step. Then, give the face a wash of watered down Scorched Brown. Follow this with highlights of Dwarf Flesh, leaving the deepest recesses the previous colour. Highlight the higher regions with Elf Flesh. Lastly, paint the very tip of the nose, chin,
and cheek bones with Bleached Bone. Step 3 - The Hair Drybrush the hair with Scorched Brown. Give the hair a lighter drybrush of Bestial Brown. Lastly, drybrush the hair very lightly with Kommando Khaki, concentrating on the ends of the hair.
This lightens the hair and gives a nice effect. Step 4 - The Armour Firstly, paint the chest plate Codex Grey. Because the armour is NMM (non-metallic metal), you will need to highlight it in lines, to represent the shining areas of the metal.
So, paint lines parallel to each other, getting thinner at the end, using Fortress Grey. Highlight the middle of these lines using Skull White. Repeat these stages on the rest of the armour, the sword, and all other metal regions Step 5 - The Inner Robe Undercoat the inner robe with Codex Grey. Highlight this area with Fortress Grey, leaving the deepest recesses Codex Grey. Highlight the sharpest folds using Skull White. Carefully, paint a thin line along the bottom of the inner robes using Regal Blue. Step 6 - The Shield Undercoat the symbol on the shield with Fortress Grey. Paint the symbol on the shield shield Skull White, leaving lines of Fortress Grey,
separating the different levels of the symbol. Paint the background of the shield Regal Blue. Highlight the background with Enchanted Blue. Give the shield a final highlight of Ice Blue. Step 7 - The Cloak Apply a basecoat of Midnight Blue to the cloak. Paint the cloak Regal Blue, leaving the deepest areas Midnight Blue. Highlight the most prominent folds with Enchanted Blue. Lastly, paint the very sharpest folds with Ice Blue. Step 8 - The Details Paint the belt and sword handle Scorched Brown. Highlight them with Bestial Brown. Paint the hilt and pommel of the sword Golden Yellow, followed by a highlight of Bleached Bone.
Apply a wash of watered down Bestial Brown. Highlight Imrahil's fingers, knuckles and edge of his gloves using Codex Grey. Step 9 - The Base To avoid getting static grass mixed in the lichen and paint, follow this step in the order described. First of all, drybrush the rocks with Codex Grey. Follow this with a progressivelt lighter drybrushes of
Fortress Grey and Skull White. For some variation in the rocks, drybrush some areas of the
rocks with Bleached Bone. Paint the sand with watered down Scorched Brown. Once dry, drybrush the sand with Bleached Bone. Add patches of lichen and a few patches of static grass for variety. Finally, paint the rim of the base with a couple of thin coats of Scorched Brown.
Try to achieve a smooth finish to enhance the look of the miniature. Step 10 - Protection In a well ventilated space, evenly spray your miniature with a can of purity seal. Conclusion He's finished! I am happy with the result I have produced and I hope you will be happy with yours. I would love to help with any queries. You can contact me using the e-mail link below.
