I hope this article helps all of the people who wished to paint Gandalf on Shadowfax. This guide could also be used to paint Gandalf
the White from the "Heroes of the West" boxed set. Thank you for reading my first article.

Shadowfax
First I painted the model using Chaos Black and watered it down a tad so it wasn't too thick.
I then dry-brushed the horse using Shadow Grey.
Next I dry-brushed the model with Codex Grey and painted the muscle bulges with Codex Grey so that it would shine
through later in the process.
I dry-brushed the model with Skull White and then gave it a Codex Grey wash. I then painted the model's
highest points with Skull white.
After this, I then painted the hooves with Chaos Black and washed the mouth region with Chaos Black as well. The eyes
were then painted black then given a small white dot for the pupil.
The horse's tail and mane were painted with Codex Grey and then given a wash of Chaos Black. Finally I dry-brushed the
hair with Skull White and picked out the teeth with Skull White as well.
Firstly, like the Shadowfax paint job, the miniature was base coated in Chaos Black. I then painted the whole miniature with
Scorched brown.
I dry-brushed the whole thing with Graveyard Earth and then added Elf Flesh in the ratio of 1:1.
The whole model was painted Skull White. The model was then given a wash of Graveyard Earth, letting it seeping into the gaps.
The highest folds of Gandalf's clothes were dry-brushed with Skull White.
Now for Gandalf's skin. I gave his face a basecoat of Scorched Brown. I then gave it successive dry-brushes of Bestial Brown,
Dwarf Flesh, and then a final light dry-brush of Elf Flesh. The face was then given a light wash of Bestial Brown.
Finally highlight the face with Elf Flesh.
I painted the beard with Codex Grey and then dry-brushed it with Skull White. It was then given a wash of
Chaos Black.
The staff was painted Codex Grey and then dry-brushed Skull White. Later the staff was washed with a watered-down
Skull white.
To finish the model off, I painted the belt with Scorched Brown and highlighted it with Graveyard Earth. Next I painted
Glamdring with a basecoat of Chaos Black and then dry-brushed Chainmail over it.
I glued an assortment of dirt and rocks on the base and used Blue Tack as a rock under the horse. For the other rock I used a piece of slate I
found at school.
The whole base was painted with a watered-down Scorched Brown.
Next, I dry-brushed the base with Bestial Brown, followed by Graveyard Earth and then Graveyard Earth mixed with a bit of
Elf Flesh.
The rocks were painted Codex Grey and then were dry-brushed with Codex Grey mixed with a bit Skull White.
Glue Static Grass in areas where you desire. The rim of the base was painted Chaos Black to give it what I call a 'professional' look.
